Transition from Pauli paramagnetism to Curie-Weiss behavior in vanadium

چکیده
We study electron correlations and their impact on magnetic properties of bcc vanadium by a combination density functional dynamical mean-field theory. The calculated uniform susceptibility in structure is Pauli type at low temperatures, while it obeys the Curie-Weiss law higher temperatures. Thus, we qualitatively reproduce experimental temperature dependence without introducing martensitic phase transition. Our results for local spin-spin correlation function reveal that behavior appears due to partial formation moments, which originate from ${t}_{2g}$ states occur spin caused Hund's rule coupling. At same time, fermionic quasiparticles remain well defined, moments accompanied deviation Fermi-liquid behavior. In particular, self-energy shows nonanalytic frequency dependence, characteristic spin-freezing behavior, quasiparticle damping changes approximately linearly with intermediate range 200--700 K. By analyzing momentum static susceptibility, find incommensurate correlations, may provide mechanism unconventional superconductivity

متن کاملA Curie-Weiss model with dissipation
We consider stochastic dynamics for a spin system with mean field interaction, in which the interaction potential is subject to noisy and dissipative stochastic evolution. We show that, in the thermodynamic limit and at sufficiently low temperature, the magnetization of the system has a time periodic behavior, despite of the fact that no periodic force is applied.
متن کاملOn the Dielectric Curie-weiss Law and Diffuse Phase Transition in Ferroelectrics
A simple derivation of parabolic i/Er-T curves is obtained by reconsidering the origin of the dielectric Curie-Weiss law. The only assumption needed is the introduction of a non-linear temperature dependance of the macroscopic dielectric polarization in the macroscopic Clausius-Mossotti equation.
متن کاملThe Phase Diagram of the Quantum Curie-weiss Model
This paper studies a generalization of the Curie-Weiss model (the Ising model on a complete graph) to quantum mechanics. Using a natural probabilistic representation of this model, we give a complete picture of the phase diagram of the model in the parameters of inverse temperature and transverse field strength. Further analysis computes the critical exponent for the decay of the order paramete...
متن کاملA Curie-Weiss Model of Self-Organized Criticality
We try to design a simple model exhibiting self-organized criticality, which is amenable to a rigorous mathematical analysis. To this end, we modify the generalized Ising Curie-Weiss model by implementing an automatic control of the inverse temperature. For a class of symmetric distributions whose density satisfies some integrability conditions, we prove that the sum Sn of the random variables ...
